As Summer approaches, it’s important to customize your skin care routine to protect skin against harmful rays that can accelerate the aging process. Put your best face (and body) forward this summer by protecting, moisturizing, and treating skin after sun exposure!

6 Summer Skin tips to keep your skin safe, soft, and supple:

Apply SPF Daily

  • Sun rays are the strongest between 10 am and 4 pm
  • Apply SPF products daily before sun exposure to protect skin against UV Rays
  • Apply and reapply throughout the day (every 2 hours)
  • Choose a sunscreen that fits your particular skin needs (oil-free, extra emollients, chemical free, fragrance free)

Stay Hydrated

  • Keeping your body in a hydrated state helps to maintain moisture balance and aid in detoxification
  • Recommended to drink eight 8oz. glasses of water throughout the day to combat dehydration
  • Add fruits and vegetables to your water such as lemons, cucumbers, mint, and berries for added vitamins and minerals, and taste!

  • Exfoliate 1-2 times per week to regenerate and reveal smoother, healthier skin
  • Skin care products such as sunscreen, moisturizers, and serums will easily absorb better after exfoliating
  • Get creative and make your own Do-It-Yourself exfoliating scrub or purchase a scrub with healing exfoliating ingredients

Don’t Forget Lips, Hands and Feet

  • Protect, moisturize, and exfoliate lips, hands, and feet routinely to protect against harmful sun damage
  • Liberally apply and reapply a moisturizing lip balm with SPF
  • Invest in a heavy foot cream to combat dry skin that can cause calluses and cracked heels

  • UVA and UVB rays can accelerate the aging process and contribute to premature aging
  • Exposure to sun can cause sun spots, discoloration, and skin cancer
